Boho braids install next to two Fula Beauty 100% human hair bulk bundles with brand tags

How Many Packs of Braiding Hair Do You Need?

Short answer: for most full-head styles in human hair, 2 to 4 bundles. But the honest answer depends on four things — and getting it wrong is why people either run out mid-install or end up with three unopened packs.

Here's how to work it out before you order.

What actually changes the number

1. Your length. Longer braids don't just need longer hair, they need more of it. Going from 18" to 24" typically pushes you up a bundle.

2. Your braid size. Small braids eat hair. Jumbo braids use far less. This is the single biggest variable — bigger difference than length.

3. How full you want it. A soft, airy boho look and a thick "braids where?" install can differ by two full bundles on the same head.

4. Your own hair. Thick natural hair needs less added hair to look full. Fine hair needs more to get the same density.

Human hair — bundle guide

Every Fula Beauty bundle is 100g, available in 18" and 24".

One 100g bundle of Fula Beauty Deep Wave 100% human braiding hair with brand tag
This is one 100g bundle — Deep Wave human braiding hair
Look Bundles
Light boho — soft, airy, minimal added hair 1
Natural volume — the everyday full look 2–3
Extra full — maximum density 4

Most people land on 2 to 4.

Going longer or smaller? Add one bundle if you're doing 24" and small braids — that combination is the most hair-hungry.

By style

Style Typical range Note
Boho braids 1–3 bundles Only the curly ends are added, so you need less than you'd think
Knotless braids 2–4 bundles Full-length feed-in — the most common range
Goddess braids 2–3 bundles Similar to boho, with more added at the ends
Mermaid / micro braids 3–4+ bundles Small partings, high hair count
Several 100g bundles of Fula Beauty Body Wave human hair held together
Most full installs use 2–4 bundles like these — Body Wave human hair

Human or synthetic — which do you need?

Human hair Synthetic
Reusable Yes — wash, take down, re-install No, single use
Heat Can be curled, straightened, dyed Limited
Feel Lighter, no itch Can be heavier
Cost per install Higher up front, lower over time Lower up front
Wet & wavy effect Curl pattern returns with water Depends on the fiber

If you re-install the same style every couple of months, human hair usually costs less over a year — you're buying it once instead of every time.

Still not sure?

Order one bundle more than you think you need. Unopened bundles keep indefinitely, and running out mid-install means matching a dye lot later — which rarely goes well.
